With the Government’s decision to extend this country’s Alert Level 4 lockdown there will be no racing at all in New Zealand, for any of the codes.

I would like to clarify the situation around exercising your horses under COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

Covid restrictions allowing, Addington Raceway is planning to stage a marathon 17-race meeting on Sunday.

The announcement by the Government to move to Level 4 has major implications for the racing industry.

Auckland moved to Alert Level 2 at 6am on Sunday, March 7, 2021, with the rest of the country going to Alert Level 1 at the same time.

The following Order and Directions come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force for the next seven days (or extended if government announcements dictate) and is applicable to the alert level in the region at the time.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, HRNZ has now issued the following Order and Direction documents for both Levels 2 and 3 (as applicable) for both Racing/Trials/Workouts and Training.

Owners will be allowed back at Alexandra Park for Friday night’s Spring Cup meeting.
